How would you describe this photograph to a person who could not see it? The image is of a large empty, dirt patch on the right and to the left is a long empty road. There is a tree in the far right hand side with a caravan in front of it, behind it all is a house. In the middle of the picture is an upside down triangular sign and above it in the sky is a cloud that fits perfectly on top. The whole picture is black and white.
How is space represented in this photograph (Foreground, Middle ground, Background)? Space is represented well in this photograph as it uses the sign in the foreground and the cloud in the background to create shapes. In the middle ground is an ordinary looking setting.
What is in or out of focus? How has the subject been framed/cropped? The back ground is out of focus and the sign is in focus. The sign has been framed to where it looks like there's a cloud on top of it and it's in the middle and it's not cropped.
Which part of this photograph strikes you as most interesting - captivating, surprising, puzzling, mysterious? Why? The sign is the most interesting part of the photograph to me because it is the first thing you'll notice as it's in the middle of the picture and the cloud on top of it makes it look like an ice-cream with the sign being the cone.
What questions would you ask the artist about this work, if he/she were here? I would ask the artist how long it took to get the right angle and what made them come up with the idea.
What do you think it would be like to live in this photograph? What makes you think that? I think it would be very quite and calm if I were to live in this picture because the roads look empty and desolate and there is no one in the picture. I feel like it would be very boring too.
Why do you suppose the artist made this photograph? What makes you think that? I think the artist made this photograph because they just walked past a sign one day and thought about how it looks like an ice-cream cone and wanted to take a picture to show it
What do you think is effective about this photograph? What doesn't works well? I think that this picture is effective because it uses angles and perspective very well and the subject is centred. Overall I don't think anything is bad apart from the quality of the picture.
